Stylish Fashion Recap: Fall 2011 Couture Collections

The fashion industry NEVER sleeps, something is always going on that is worthy of talking about. Yesterday was the last day of Couture Week in Paris. This is actually probably my second favorite show next to Resort, because only a few selected designers get to show their Haute Couture collections for the upcoming season. A lot of people don't realize that in order to be classified as Haute Couture, a designer has to be chosen by the Chambre de Commerce et d'industrie de Paris. The rule is the only companies allowed to call their fashion house "haute couture" is if they are mentioned on the list that is made up by this council each year. Along with the list they have to meet the following items as well:
Design made-to-order for private clients, with one or more fittings.
Have a workshop (atelier) in Paris that employs at least fifteen people full-time.
Each season (i.e., twice a year), present a collection to the Paris press, comprising at least thirty-five runs/exits with outfits for both daytime wear and evening wear.
So not anyone can just label themselves as Haute Couture, and these collections are so unique because of it. Check out some of my favorite looks from the Haute Couture Collections
