Stylish Outfit: Summertime Print Mixing

One of my favorite trends that I have yet to try until today is print mixing. I love anything printed and while sometimes mixing prints together can go all wrong, in some cases they can go all right! When one of my SCBS members came to me and said they wanted the monthly linkup topic to be print mixing I was so excited to finally get to try out the trend. I did a bit of research to make sure I paired the right prints together and here are the top four things I learned from my girls over at Lauren Conrad's blog and various other sites I referenced before putting this look together!

Stylish Rules for Mixing Prints:
**The most important thing I learned is not to figure out what matches per say but to figure out what pairs well together.**
1. Start with a bold piece then use that as your jumping off point for the entire outfit.
2. The easiest ways to mix prints is mixing polka dots and stripes if you are a little weary of mixing prints together at first.
3. Choosing a color family will make pairing much easier (I didn't necessarily do this in my print mixing, but its a good tip!)
4. Don't Over Accessorize this can ruin you look! Keep it simple since the prints are enough!

Okay so now that you know some of the "rules" persay I decided to take a loud tribal print pant and pair it with an all over star silk tank. Normally I would just wear a white tee or v neck with these pants but I love how this top brings out the color in the pants and doesn't overwhelm you either. I kept my accessories simple of course with just a few solid bracelets and a red simple clutch. Voila! It was so much easier and fun to print mix than I had thought!

Now I want to hear from all of you! What are your favorite prints to mix and match together!? Don't forget to stop by SoCal Blogger Society and see how the members interpreted the print mixing topic! Thanks to my best Cassie for shooting these pics!

So until next time.. Live Stylishly
