Stylish Closet Additions: A Few Key Items

Not working full time has basically left me with no shopping budget and having to work from what I have in my closet, and if you know me when I haven't added some new items to my wardrobe in over a month, I start to get antsy. I have been noticing that many of my outfits are lacking an item that can easily be classified as a "key item" and thus be worn with multiple outfits. A Stylish February

I can't believe today is already February 1st! February happens to be one of my favorite months (I know, I say that A LOT!) but it really is due to the exciting things that happen throughout the month. From New York Fashion Week to London Fashion Week to Paris and Milan Fashion Week, February is a fashion filled month and is basically heaven for any fashion loving blogger. While January might have been a bummer of a month for me personally, I am hoping that February will bring much happier times! So here's to a great month of fashion and fun!

January Stylish Girl of the Month: Kristen Cavallari

I literally can't believe today is the last day of January. This month FLEW by! I feel like I was just picking my December 2011 SGOTM and now I am already starting my first pick for 2012! This month has been a celebrity packed month and I went around and around trying to figure out who the best choice was for this month and I ended up choosing someone I wouldn't have though I would have chosen. I was a die hard Laguna Beach fan and Lauren Conrad was always my favorite and I always despised Kristen Cavallari for being such a snob but as the years have gone on, I have realized she actually has really awesome fashion taste and with her recent news of her expecting I figured she would be a great pick for January's Stylish Girl of the Month and a great way to start of a year of stylish girls! Kristen really does have a taste for fashion and knows how to dress for her body and has similar style to my own, girly yet California chic. Check out why I chose her below!

Stylish LA Hiking Experience

This past weekend was one of the most fun weekends I have had in LA for a really long time. I had been hiking before in Malibu but had been craving to hike into the Hollywood Hills for months. I finally got to do it Saturday with a dear friend and I must say it was AMAZING. It's the perfect hiking distance, 3.6 miles round trip, and it was a BEAUTIFUL day in SoCal, 75 degrees to be exact, which made for the perfect hiking expierence. When we made it to the top of the mountain, it was seriously like so peaceful even tho there were tons of people around. Seeing he beautiful view of the city made me more sure than ever I am living in the right place and while I might be having a rocky time, its only going to get better! I recommend ANYONE and EVERYONE doing this hike if they come to LA or live here! Bronson Canyon is the best! AMAZING weekend after such a rough week! Check out my pictures from the hike below!

Stylish Trend: Heart Graphic

While I might not be a huge fan of Valentine's Day (I believe its just a day for Hallmark to make money), I am a lover of all things pink and girly. As I was reading my monthly fashion magazines, an overwhelming trend I saw was the heart graphic on EVERYTHING from clothing to accessories. Even some celebrities have jumped on the heart trend and are sporting huge hearts on tees and tanks. A Stylish Happy Birthday....

If you didn't know by now, I am EXTREMELY close with my younger sister and am thrilled that we finally live in the same time zone after almost 4 years of living too far! Today is my sister's 19th birthday and I literally can't believe how fast time has flown. I feel like just yesterday I was writing the post about her 18th birthday and saying how it was crazy she was about to graduate high school, and now she is almost done with her first semester of college! I got to celebrate with her this past weekend and while it might have been a rainy weekend, getting some much needed sister time was awesome! Happy 19th Birthday Marisa! I love you and know that you will make this year better than ever!

I know I have been MIA and I feel terrible about it. Without making this post sound like a "woe is me" post, I ended up losing my job and have been on the hunt for a new one, thus making my blogging inspiration slim to none. Every time I sit down and try to write a post I go blank and nothing comes up worthy of posting, but I am working as hard as I can to get past this bump in the road, and get back to my old self. Stylish Award Show Recap: 2012 Golden Globes

While sometimes January can get quite a slow month after all the hustle bustle of the holidays, one of the things I always look forward to is the Golden Globes. I, of course, mainly care only about what my favorite celebrities are wearing, but is has become a way of life to watch the red carpet and see the incredible fashion. As I was driving through Beverly Hills on Saturday I saw all the chaos that surrounded getting ready for the big night, so I felt even more excited to see what the show would turn out! Of course, it was nothing less than amazing, and picking my best dressed was next to impossible, but I managed. Check out my picks below!

Stylish Awards Show Recap: 2012 People's Choice Awards

While I might be having a terrible week, last night cheered me up slightly when the 2012 awards season began with none other than the People's Choice Awards. This year the shindig was hosted by the adorable Kaley Cuoco, whom I am realizing more and more is becoming quite the style icon (SGOTM pick possibly?) The overwhelming trend of the evening was definitely SPARKLE! Lots of sequins and lots of shimmer, made me feel like I was in Vegas all over again hehe! Yesterday was my first day back at work after a much needed two week vacation. It was definitely hard to re-adjust to waking up early, sitting in traffic, working long days, and coming home exhausted but it's nice to be back in the swing of things. Our office is pretty basic, and my boss has been encouraging me to decorate it and I am finally getting some inspiration from my favorite site Pinterest. Stylish Online Shopping Obsession: ShopReverie.com

For my second post of 2012, I wanted to make it something very Stylelista Confessions worthy, so when I was contacted by Elissa the owner of Shop Reverie.com I knew I had found a PERFECT match. Shop Reverie is a online shopping site that sells everything from MinkPink to ArynK to BBDakota, all brands I happen to LOVE! All the items are very affordable yet stylish and glamourous which I LOVE even more! I got to ask Elissa a few questions about how she created her company and what she feels most stylish in! See her answers below!

1. What inspired you to start your company?

I've always wanted my own store, but my original idea was brick & mortar rather than e-commerce based. I loved the idea of creating a theme within a store, but the notion of opening a store in NY was daunting and I began researching how to start an online boutique. I found the word Reverie in the thesaurus, learned how to obtain a business license in the state of New York, talked to my contacts who own showrooms and began working with them to place orders for merchandise. Once I found a web designer, the process went from 0-60, and I just went with it!Working for a contemporary showroom after college taught me a lot about buying for a specialty store, and once I had that figured out I felt that I could do this.

2. What inspires you when buying for your store?

During my first buy it was very hard to buy according to inspiration because I had to buy from left over stock rather than in advance. Going forward my inspiration is based largely on fantasy and dreams, hence the name ShopReverie. I've learned that what excites and inspires customers is an experience and a sort of fantasy, so I am trying to incorporate this idea into my photo shoots and overall brand image. I also try to make sure that garments are practical but also have something special to them. The fringe benefits skirt is a good example of an item that is practical but has that special detail to it. My fantasy and dream-like items are the Aphrodite dress and Juliette chiffon blouse from Fall.

3. What do you feel most like a "stylelista" in?

I feel like a stylelista in an amazing pair of wedges. Wedges are funky and sexy all at once, and you're almost guaranteed to be able to walk fast and not fall- walking fast is important in NYC! A scarf is always important as well ;)

4. What upcoming spring trend are you so excited for?

Anorak jackets for the tom-boy in me and color-blocking.

5. Anything else you want my readers to know about your company?

I order all merchandise and create the assortments for the site, create and style all of the shoots, and market the website and brand all on my own. There may not seem like much merchandise now, but don't fret- MUCH more is to come by early February!

It literally blows me away to think how fast 2011 has gone by. I feel like it was just January and I was writing about how I only had six months until graduation and now I have been graduated for over 6 months! 2011 was an INCREDIBLE year for me both personally and professionally. This year has really made me realize how blessed I really am! I thought I would do a little recap of 2011 and remind you all of how stylish and amazing this year has really been!

She is also Dolce and Gabbana's brand ambassador, so she is just an obvious pick for December! See below why I chose her!

I can't believe that Christmas has already come and gone. I know I had a AMAZING Christmas. It was so refreshing to be surrounded by my family and friends and have a relaxing day. While the Lakers may have lost on their season opener, I couldn't be too upset because I am the new owner of a new Marc Jacobs bag, something I have been lusting over for almost a year! Stylish Hair Style: Blunt Bangs

I have always had long hair and side swept bangs for as long as I can remember and when it comes to my hair I am ALWAYS a chicken when it comes to change. With the new year right around the corner and the holidays in a few weeks I am contemplating making a change to my hair, and by change I mean straight across bangs or blunt bangs. It has been something I have talked about for months and think that next week when I go to get my hair done, I am finally going to have the courage to chop my bangs and get a fresh look. Before I do so, I wanted to get some inspiration so I searched Pinterest, of course, for the best blunt bang styles and how I can actually make this look versatile and easy!

Stylish Designer Spotlight: Sigalie Jewelry

One of the perks of working in downtown LA is that I get to meet a lot of up and coming designers and this designer is no exception! When I was interning at the jewelry showroom, one of the lines that was represented was a jewelry line called Sigalie. I got to do a few freelance projects with her as I designed her current line sheet along with pictures seen on her website, www.sigalie.com. Designer Sigalie Oren was bored and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel and has created an incredible jewelry line inspired by the gorgeous city. All the pieces are handmade from silk thread, leather cord, czech glass, venetian beads, and mixed metals. She also uses rare gemstones, hand crochet, and parts and pieces she finds in Israel, Bali, and Inia. With a warm zen like feeling, the collection is all about unique incredible pieces that are so affordable as well! I got to ask Sigalie a few questions and am excited to share her answers with my readers!

Stylelista:What inspires you when creating your jewelry?

Sigalie Oren: Designing Jewelry is my passion, I get inspired from nature, good energy, and people around me.

One thing I have associated with the start of the holiday season is the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. To think that bras and panties and Christmas time are associated together is crazy, but it has become a standing thing for me! I really can't believe that November is almost over and 2011 is almost over! This month went by SO fast and I KNOW December is going to fly by. As the month comes to an end, its time to choose my Stylish Girl of the Month, and I definitely had a touch decision, in that November was a crazy month for many of my favorite celebrities, but I narrowed down my choice to mom to be Hilary Duff! The American Music Awards were this past Sunday evening and while it was raining and freezing in LA that didn't stop the best of the best in the music industry to show up and look gorgeous. I feel like it has been such a long time since I have done an awards show recap, but its only been a few months. Last night was the Country Music Awards hosted by my favorite country singers Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. As always, Carrie Underwood looked stunning as well did the other guests. Lots of sparkle and glitter, my favorite! I love the CMT's because it brings me back to my Texas roots and reminds me that country music is simply amazing! I took a mental health day yesterday as I realized after receiving such bad news, I needed to stay home and regather myself. I am one who NEVER calls into work and rarely ever missed school, but yesterday as my alarm went off, I knew I couldn't go to work and be productive. A Stylish Goodbye to Penny

Yesterday was a rough day for me. I got the phone call that I had been dreading for months coming, my precious black lab, whom I have had since I was 5 years old, had to be put to rest. She was 14 and was struggling to breathe, so my parents made the brace decision to peacefully let her go. I have been dreading this day since Penny started to get older and when my phone rang and I answered, I knew something wasn't right. Penny Lane was the only dog my family ever had, and she was more than just a dog, she was a huge part of our family. Through all the changes my family and I went through, Penny always remained the one consistent thing, which always helped me get through the tough times. While I know Penny is in a better place, I still am heartbroken I won't get to see her every time I go home to my parents house now. Penny was the greatest dog alive and loved EVERYONE! RIP Penny Lane, you were the greatest dog I ever knew!

RIP Penny Lane. I love you.

I have never been afraid of sharing my obsession with Disney Channel stars. I have always been a fan of Miley/Hannah and am not ashamed of it either, even if I am 21 years old. While I think she can do so much better than that annoying Justin Beiber, I think her style is amazing and for only 19 years old, she has always had great style. She always has been a great example of someone who can dress for their age, unlike a lot of her fellow young stars. I definitely think she is a perfect choice for this month's SGOTM :)

OPI always knows the ideal person to partner up with for a new collection. First it was Katy Perry whom everyone FLIPPED for and it was sold out EVERYWHERE and it was perfect because Katy is known for extravagant nails, now the nail polish empire is teaming up with another ideal candidate... NICKI MINAJ. While Nicki is known for her crazy outfits and hair, her nails are always equally as insane and her new collection with OPI is not any different. I actually really like the colors and cant wait to grab a few. Just like Katy Perry's collection, all the names in Nicki's collection are inspired by her hit songs and fit each color perfectly! While we have to wait until January, it will be worth it to start 2012 off with such adorable nail colors! Check out the collection below!

So today my parents finally come to LA- the first time my mom has visited me since the big move and the first time my dad has been back since he left me with boxes and an unfinished room hehe. While my dad is headed up north for business, my mom is staying down here to spend some quality time with me and my grandmother (if you didn't know I currently live with my amazing grandmother!) I can't wait to finally be able to show my mom LA like a resident instead of just as a tourist and get some good ole shopping in! Then on Thursday I get to head down to San Diego to celebrate family weekend at SDSU and finally be reunited with my baby sissy! Such an exciting week ahead of me! I can't wait!

Stylish October Mini Vacation

After living in LA since August and working non stop since then, I realized I needed a break and a trip home to Houston to see my parents. So I decided last minute to go home for a few days to clear my head and get back into my positive mindset. Paris Fashion Week Spring 2012 Recap: Chloe

If you read my blog or know me in person, you know that I have two all time favorite designers (yet I still say that every designer is my favorite) that I can't get enough of one of the two is Chloe. I have been a lover of Chloe since I was probably 13, when I first saw the infamous Chloe Paddington purse on one of my favorite celebs at the time, I researched more about the line and found out their clothes were even more incredible! So now every fashion week when Chloe's show roll around, I get so giddy and want every single piece from the collection. Yesterday, Chloe debuted its Spring 2012 collection and I must say it is one of my favorites so far. The pure elegance of the clothes shown was what caught my eye, silky fabrics, soft hues, and pleats all around. The obvious trend of Spring 2012 is clearly lightweight flowey fabrics in feminine and soft hues, I literally can't wait! While I wish I could have uploaded all 30 looks from the show, I narrowed it down to my top 5 picks which are seen below! What do you think?

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2012 Recap: Days 5 & 6

I literally cannot believe that it is already October! It is CRAZY how time flies! Paris Fashion Week is in full spring and the fashion is absolutely incredible, I spent my entire Sunday re-watching all the shows and getting lost in the spectacular fashion my favorite designers were debuting for next spring! It was a see of pink at Viktor and Rolf to classic black at Givenchy, every designer made their own collection incredibly unique. Stylish Girl of the Month: Rachel Bilson

I can't believe today is the last day of September! Every month is going by so much faster! Well the end of the month means it's time to reveal my September pick for Stylish Girl of the Month. With all the fashion shows going on, it made my decision harder, because there was SO many girls I wanted to choose but I ultimately narrowed it down to one of my favorite actresses and a budding fashionista.... Rachel Bilson. She has a AWESOME new show on the CW "Hart of Dixie." While she will always be the witty Summer Roberts from The OC, she has come quite a ways with tons of movies under her belt and is becoming quite the emerging style icon. I LOVE my black maxi skirt that I bought over the summer, but am having trouble finding a top to wear with it. Stylish Work Bag Necessities

Now that I am done with college and working full time, I am always on the go and working from home is starting to get less and less possible, so always being prepared with anything I might need is key. My work bag is always a mess filled with papers and post it notes of things I need to do, so I decided to actually go through it and choose what I really can't live without. These are what I came up with

1. Macbook Pro. This computer is my lifeline to everything I need to complete the day. I never leave home without it!

2. I always bring my camera with me because I am always needing to shoot different things for work whether it be new items we receive or even pictures for our blog! I can't live without my Sony CyberShot.

3. While I might work in a world where paper is beginning to become non-existant, I ALWAYS have a notebook with me to jot down notes and reminders for myself. I keep everything I need to know in my notebook incase my computer is ever unaccessible. I love this J.Crew notebook, its the perfect size for my purse.

4. Since I am at a computer all day, my hands can get pretty tired and dry so I make sure to moisturize with my favorite hand cream, L'Occitane Shea Butter.

5. I LIVE by this lip balm. Not only does it moisturize but it also smells yummy. EOS Lemon Drop Lip Balm with SPF 15

Stylishly Best Dressed: Primetime Emmy Awards

Last night was the 63rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards hosted here in Los Angeles, and can I just say WOW! The stars came out dressed to the nines in the most incredible gowns, making it practically impossible to choose a best dressed. Check out my favorite stars in their gorgeous dresses below and my pick for best dressed of the evening!

I think blue was also another popular color of the evening. Minka Kelly chose this navy Dior dress for the red carpet!

Holy Oscar de la Renta! Claire Danes is stunning!

Red was the color of the evening and Kate Winslet wore is well showing off her style in this Elie Saab gown.

Sofia Vergara looks AMAZING in this coral Vera Wang gown, can Sofia ever go wrong!?

Lea Michelle is STUNNING in this red Marchesa gown.

The adorable Sarah Hyland is my pick for best dressed of the evening. She shined in this gorgeous custom made coral Christian Siriano gown which she pairs with drop earrings and a beautiful cuff, coral was the winning color of the evening!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2012: Beauty Recap

While the clothes might be the main focus on New York Fashion Week, I get equally as excited about the beauty trends that are displayed on the runway. With NYFW wrapped up and now the focus is on London Fashion Week, I of course had to do my NYFW beauty recap and share the hottest trends to expect for Spring 2012! Of course I couldn't forget the hot NAIL trends we all saw as well!

We saw the models nails with dark colors (not something expected for spring) but with pops of brighter colors, which definitely stood out to me. The ombre style was also seen at various shows!

The hot hair trend at a number of shows was the faux slicked back mullet. Sort of refreshing after always seeing beachy waves and braids.

Bold neon lips were huge and coordinated with side parted pulled back hair.

Brightly colored eyeshadows were also commonly seen with a natural rest of the face. I love this look!
