A Stylish and Thankful Thanksgiving

credit

Happy Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for I don't even know where to begin. I am so lucky to be healthy and be supported by such amazing friends and family. This year has had its up and downs, but this blog and my readers have kept me going through all of it. I want to thank everyone for all the support and love and wish you and your family only the best Thanksgiving! Don't eat too much ;)

A Stylish Thanksgiving Dinner Outfit

2013 Thanksgiving Outfit
I cannot believe tomorrow is already Thanksgiving! This year has flown by, which I know I keep saying! While its colder than cold in Texas (figures I am in town and its freezing), I still plan to brave the cold and wear a dress with tights for Turkey Day. As I do every year, I wanted to create a stylish Thanksgiving Dinner outfit, that is stylish and perfect for eating lots of yummy food. Thanksgiving in my family is more casual, but I ignore that and still look as stylish as can be. What is everyone planning to wear tomorrow!

November Stylish Girl of the Month: Rachel McAdams

When I sat down to choose this month's SGOTM, I realized that after doing this monthly series for almost 3 years, I have never thought to pick this beautiful actress. Rachel McAdams embodies beauty, femininity, and chicness, and why I haven't picked her is still blowing my mind. With that being said, I am happy to announce she is my November 2013 Stylish Girl of the Month! Rachel really needs no introduction, her beauty and style speak for themselves. She is also probably one of the only actresses that can change her hair color and look incredibly beautiful in EVERY single color! I only wish I could do that! See below why she is the obvious choice for November's SGOTM! PS did you know that Rachel just turned 35? I hope I look half that good when I am 35!!
from left to right:
Can we talk about how drop dead gorgeous this pale lavender Roksanda Ilincic gown is!?
Even in a top knot, Rachel is gorgeous in this Maria Lucia Hohan dress with lace overlay.
A blonde Rachel looks stylish in this Lavin mini dress.
I am beyond obsessed with this Saint Laurent mini dress. I need this!
I don't think Rachel could pick a bad dress, and this Vivienne Westwood dress is no exception!

Stylishly Best Dressed: 2013 American Music Awards

I feel like it's been forever since there was an awards show and while I missed the red carpet last night since I was on a flight to Houston, I still managed to stalk all the blogs and narrow down my best dressed from last night's American Music Awards. This is definitely a different type of red carpet and last night's fashion was definitely shocking none the less, but I did manage to narrow down my top looks and my best dressed pick of the night!
Taylor Swift in Julien MacDonald
I am LOVING this Nicole Miller dress that Alicia Silverstone sported!
I am shocked that I loved Katy Perry's Oscar de la Renta gown.
Nicole Richie is gorgeous in white Emilio Pucci
My best dressed pick of the night may not be a singer, but Emma Roberts look stunning in this Lanvin dress.

Stylish Cozy Fall Weekend

Cozy Fall Weekend
Just as the weather here in SoCal starts to finally get cold, I am off to Houston on Sunday for the holiday and am heading into some cold weather. But before I fly back to the lone star state, I am going to enjoy this beautiful weekend. I can't wait to bring out my boots and scarves, much like this outfit above! I am seeing Catching Fire after almost two years of waiting! What is everyone doing this weekend?

Stylish iPhone App Must Have: The Hunt

Do you ever see items in magazines or on Pinterest that you wish you could find (either for less or the exact item). Wouldn't it be nice to have a place where you can post a picture and people can actually find the item for you? Well GUESS WHAT, now you can! The Hunt is basically "The Cure for Outfit Envy." The Hunt allows users to upload images of items from the internet and then other users can suggest items that are similar or identical to that requested item. It's really a genius idea, because I couldn't tell you how many times I see something online and wish I knew where I could get it! While The Hunt is available online and today is the OFFICIAL iPhone App launch with a new look and feel, and guess what, IT'S FREE!
The Hunt
Of course, I decided to start my own hunt, with the following items I am dying to add to my wardrobe for the holidays, under $100! Within minutes, I had tons of suggested items for what I was looking for and all were so in my price range and so stylish! I was "hunting" for:
Over the Knee Boots
Celfie Tee
Leather Leggings
Midi Rings
Sequin Shorts
Sequin Graphic Sweatshirts
So what are you waiting for, go to the app store and download this app and start a hunt today! You can see this hunt above and my other hunts here, and trust me you will love this app as much as I do! Make sure to follow The Hunt on Facebook and Twitter and use #THEHUNTAPP.

Stylish Sequins for Daytime

Sequins for Daytime

Splurge: Free People Maxi Sequin Skirt $268

If you haven't figured out by now, I have a slight obsession with anything sequined. Well actually, anything sequined, glittered, or sparkly. I would live in a sequined covered house if I could! Whenever I am shopping, my eye is instantly attracted to anything and everything sequined. Some people think sequins are only for New Years Eve or fancy parties, but I want to prove that sequins are totally appropriate and STYLISH for daytime. I am sure most of you are totally on board with sequins for daytime, but for any skeptics, I am out to prove you otherwise! I found some perfect sequin items that are totally perfect for during the day and even into the evening. Heck, I even included a (splurge) sequin maxi skirt, because who's really stopping you from wearing that incredible piece of clothing? Rock it and you're sure to have the best day! :)

Perfect quote for a Wednesday!

Stylish Outfit: Tres Chic

Top: Catherine Malandrino for Kohl's // Jeans: Uniqlo // Boots: Lulu's (similar)  // Necklace: BaubleBar // Cuff: c/o Kendra Phillip

If you know anything about me, you know that I am obsessed with Paris and dream of living there one day. On a recent shopping trip with my mom, I spotted this shirt and knew I HAD to have it, because it displays everything I love all in one. Everyone has probably heard about Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation at Kohl's and I figured since I didn't grab a piece early on, but was so pleasantly surprised that there were tons of pieces left and I was able to grab this adorable button down top! I went for an early dinner on Sunday with my parents and paired the top with my really old but still really stylish Lulu's OTK boots and dark wash jeans I snagged at Uniqlo a few years back! The perfect effortless chic look! Thanks to my mommy for taking these pictures!

Stylish New Changes & Home Office Inspiration

As most know, I have been freelancing the last month as I search for a more permanent full time job. I am happy to announce that after a long hard month of searching, I have (hopefully) been given a new and amazing position with the clothing brand, Three Dots, as their West Coast Retail Coordinator. While I am SO excited about this new opportunity, I am even more excited because this job enables me to work from home when I am not traveling to different stores that carry the Three Dots line! I have really enjoyed the freedom from working out of my apartment the last month and can't wait to continue to do so! Over the next few weeks before I start working again, I hope to make some minor tweaks to my current bedroom/office so I can ensure I get the most work done possible. I scoured Pinterest for some inspiring pictures and found tons, but these are my top favorites and will most definitely inspire my mini home office makeover I plan to do in the next few weeks! Hope everyone had a stylish weekend!

Stylish Weekend Inspiration

I am incredibly spoiled right now, since I am focusing on blogging and freelance work instead of a full time job. It's nice getting to Friday and not feeling like I am going to die of exhaustion because my weeks aren't as crazy or stressful anymore. Sometimes I need to remind myself more to stop and look at what is right in front of me and how incredibly blessed I am. When was the last time you stopped and smelled the roses? Have a stylish weekend!

Stylish Outfit: Soft Stripes

Top: Joie (almost identical) // Jeans: Current Elliot (similar) // Boots: Steve Madden // Clutch: Marshall's (similar)  //
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar)

The weather here is so indecisive, its warm one day and cold another. I shot these pictures when it was actually cool. I snagged these jeans and Joie Striped Sweater at a Joie Sample Sale back in September and love how comfy and cozy the sweater is and I love how these jeans are like leggings but not too tight. I paired them with my Steve Madden boots, which are starting to look vintage, which I love! I really love Joie and how soft their fabrics are, I just wish they weren't so expensive. I am so loving stripes this season, so this is probably going to be a go to outfit for me! I hope everyone is having a stylish week!

Sorry for not posting yesterday, our beach house internet was down forcing me to disconnect from the web for a day, but I am back today with an all new post! If you know me, you know I am outgoing and love bright and colorful things, so when I went shopping recently and saw the overwhelming trend of crazy prints I knew had to share with my readers. I was inspired by this MSGM dress and decided to find similar options, all under $100 of course that are crazy prints but still stylish as always! Happy Wednesday!

Stylish Capes

While it might still be semi warm here in SoCal, I can't help but lust over capes. I love how easy and chic they are and are really perfect paired with my favorite ensemble.. Jeans and a t-shirt! I decided to add this trend to my lust list and search the web for stylish capes that won't break the budget. Here are some I found all under $100! Hope everyone had a stylish weekend!

Stylish Fall/Winter Must Have: Over The Knee Boots

Over the Knee Boots
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
So I have done a post on booties and riding boots so it only seemed appropriate to now do a post on over the knee boots. I feel like this trend comes back every few years, as I remember having a pair of OTK boots and then giving them away a few years back because short boots were in. Well now they are back and I want a pair and this time I am going to be smart and keep them since they continue to resurface. I love this trend because it's really easily done and can be worn dressed up or dressed down. What's even funnier is I was going back through old posts and look at what I found circa 2010, OTK boots on me! Those are the boots I am referring to giving away and I still am kicking myself for it! I am not a fan of heeled boots, especially heeled over the knee boots, so don't expect to see me in those, but I love the flat version! While I am still on a spending freeze, I can definitely shop around for the best deal, which is what I am doing so I found these great OTK options that won't break the bank! What is your favorite pair? Hope everyone has a stylish weekend!

Stylish Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Must Haves

Almost as much as I love the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I equally love the Half Yearly Sale, because a lot of items I have had my eye on for months are finally marked down, which in my book is a win! The Women's and Kids Half Yearly Sale at Nordstrom is happening right now and while I wish I could grab everything I decided to narrow down my top picks that I would be oh so excited to snag! What are you dying to snag from the sale! Remember if you have a Nordstrom Card you can earn double points TODAY ONLY! Happy Shopping!

Stylish Wardrobe Must Have: Plaid

Stylishly Plaid
Shirt: Target $25

So its all about plaid recently and while I wasn't totally for this trend at first, I am now growing to really love it, if done right.  I found this skort, since I am currently obsessed with skorts, while browsing Nasty Gal's site the other day and knew I had to share more plaid finds with my readers. I love that plaid is casual but still stylish and can really bring an outfit together. I think all of these are great plaid options and won't break the bank! What is your favorite plaid piece?

Stylish DIY Project: Glitter State Wall Art

It's been awhile since I have done any DIY projects and I got the itch over the weekend after chatting with my mom about what we wanted to do for the day! I have had this on my Pinterest DIY board for awhile now and have been wanting to make it and knew it was the perfect time. We all know I love being from California and I am obsessed with glitter, so combining the two is a match made in heaven. While you can obviously do any of the 50 states, I chose California. I literally love waking up and seeing this hanging on my wall, its the perfect amount of sparkle. What's even better about this project, it literally only cost me about $20 bucks for all the supplies and is so easy! So here's how to make this sparkling piece of wall art.

Supplies:

-Scissors
-Mod Podge (Matte or Gloss will work)
-Gold Glitter
-White card stock and a piece of colored card stock that will fit in the frame
-Frame (I used an 11×14)
-Heart brackets (found in the scrapbooking section)
-Hot glue
-Brushes
-Hair spray or clear gloss spray
-Google image search of outline of state
1. Print out an outline of the state you are wanting to do in the correct size according to your frame. My frame was 11x14 but the size with the border was 8x10, so I made state smaller since California is longer, adjust for each state. Cut out the printed outline and flip vertically onto card stock and begin tracing. Once you cut it out and flip it over, the tracing lines won't show.
2. Cut out the traced state on the card stock.
3. Using a cardboard box or even a glass cooking container (this helps keep all the glitter and glue in one place) using the brush completely cover the state in mod podge. Make sure you don't do it too heavy or it won't dry.
4.  Once you have completely covered the state in mod podge, sprinkle glitter all over the state. If you notice some places are missing glitter, carefully add a drop of mod podge and then add glitter.
5. Once you are satisfied with the state, let sit for about 10 minutes.
6. After 10 minutes, take your hairspray or gloss spray, carefully and lightly spray the state so the glitter stays put. If you spray to close it can get the paper sort of wet, so spray a decent amount away.
7. Next, take one of the heart brackets and cut off the little arms on the back. (this is super easy since they are very flimsy and come off with regular kitchen scissors. Then using a small drop of glue from a hot glue gun, place the heart on whatever city you want to represent. I obviously chose Los Angeles.
8. Now, take the glittered state and attached to the colored card stock using the hot glue gun or
double-sided tape.
9. Finally, put the finished product in the frame and voila! You have a glitter masterpiece!

Super easy, right?

Stylish Outfit: Missoni Love

Top: Chloe K via Nordstrom Rack // Jeans: Joe's (similar)  // Shoes: DivaLounge via Poshmark (similar)  // Scarf: Missoni // Bag: Coach (borrowed from my mom) // Bracelets: c/o Kendra Phillip and Alex and Ani // Rings: Forever 21

This past weekend I spent it with my parents who just returned from a two week vacation in Italy. While of course I wish I could have gone to Italy with them, they graciously brought me back the most amazing and most gorgeous Missoni scarf ever I immediately put it on (even if it was 82 degrees here in SoCal). I am literally obsessed with this scarf, it is so soft and so cozy and the colors are so beyond perfect for my wardrobe. I paired it with my favorite Joe's army green skinnies  this fun oxblood oversized tank with leather detailing and my fringed booties. The scarf really made this outfit and I can't wait to wear it again and again. Thanks to my sissy for snapping these pictures! Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)
