May Stylish Girl of the Month: Carey Mulligan

from left right:
Carey at this years Met Gala in a black Balenciaga dress
Carey was stunning at the world premiere of The Great Gatsby in a red Lanvin (similar) strapless dress and $1.3 million worth of Tiffany and Co Jewels!
Carey loves her Celine bag and looks gorgeous with hers in a flowy maxi skirt
Something I love about Carey is she knows how to dress for her body, like she did with this Prada (similar) dress.

The month's just keep going by faster and faster, I feel like just yesterday I was posting my end of 2012 wrap up and now its almost June! As I sat down to write this month's SGOTM, I had an idea of who I would pick, but when I started doing research I knew she was even a better pick than I had expected. We all know I am obsessed with The Great Gatsby, so naturally picking Carey Mulligan as my May Stylish Girl of the Month. Carey is the star of the summer hit and I found out is married to the lead singer of Mumford and Sons, and is probably the epitome of a stylish girl, she wears the greatest pieces by some of the greatest desginers, and I could not envy her more! The English actress is so stylish and so chic and she is obvious pick for SGOTM.
What is your favorite look on Carey?

Stylish Outfit: Polka Dot Fit and Flare

Dress: LC Lauren Conrad // Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target // Necklace: c/o Julie Vos // Bracelet: c/o Jami (similar) // Nail Polish: Essie's "First Timer"
This past weekend I finally made it to Kohl's to check out her new summer line with my cousin and was practically obsessed with everything. This dress I have had my eye on for awhile so I was so excited that they had it in my size! I of course came right home and wanted to wear it, it really is the perfect dress for summer and can really go day to night with just a change of accessories and shoes. The back bow detail is probably my favorite thing about it! Don't mind my nice start of summer sunburn hehe! Thanks to my boyfriend for snapping these pictures of me!

Stylishly Strong For Oklahoma

When I posted about fashion yesterday I felt a little selfish with everything going on in Oklahoma. The south has a special place in my heart and the devastation in Moore, Oklahoma breaks my heart. Even though I am far, I still want to help as much as I can and spread the words on how others can help as well. I plan on donating as much clothing and supplies as I can to The American Red Cross, but I made a list of other organizations that you can donate to help these victims get their lives back to somewhat normal and move forward.

The Oklahoma City Red Cross will open shelters as first responders assess damage. The organization says in the immediate aftermath, the best way to help is to donate at RedCross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999.

Operation USA will work with Oklahoma's impacted community clinics and hospitals to help replace lost equipment and supplies as well as make grants to the extent of available funds from the public to help replace health resources lost. Learn more here.

Samaritan’s Purse, a nonprofit that fights poverty, has sent a disaster relief unit and staff to help people affected by the tornadoes in Oklahoma City. Find out how you can support the organization’s efforts here.

The Salvation Army has mobilized a number of emergency relief services in Oklahoma, including Moore, to dispense food, hydration and emotional support to first responders and survivors. Donate online or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts or make a donation via phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
Feeding America will deliver truckloads of food, water and supplies to impacted areas through its network of more than 200 food banks and 61,000 agencies. The organization's food banks will also set up additional drop off sites. Learn more here.

While every shade of blue is different, I happen to gear more towards the lighter hues of blue but a great navy is always a must! All of these will be added to my birthday wishlist!

Stylish Summer Must Have: Printed Skirts

Printed Skirts

Clockwise:
ASOS // Zara // Dream Daily // Modcloth // J. Crew // Topshop

I have mentioned before that I am not normally a skirt wearer just because I always feel a bit restricted in skirts. Lately I have been seeing more and more skirts that I am loving and am reconsidering adding a few more to my collection. We all know I am obsessed with prints, so of course I was drawn to this Valentine R.E.D. printed skirt which served as my inspiration when I went on the hunt for more affordable printed skirts that were equally as stylish. I definitely will be adding these to my summer wardrobe very soon!

Stylish Nail Collection: Essie "Naughty Nautical" Summer 2013

Just when I thought I would have to wait until early August to see a new Essie collection, I got word that Essie is releasing a summer collection on top of the collections they have already launched this year. The Essie summer 2013 collection titled Naughty Nautical, where 5 of the 6 shades are shimmer based and the other a cream based, something definitely different from Essie's normal approach.
Naughty Nautical - marine blue-green shimmer
The More The Merrier - juicy lime green
Sunday Funday - tangerine coral crush shimmer
Full Steam Ahead - pearlescent punch lilac
The Girls Are Out -  fuchsia peony sparkle
Rock The Boat - shimmering french blue

I happen to love all the colors, big shocker there, but I normally stay away from shimmers, but these shimmers are really the perfect colors for summer! The collection is set to launch in early June and I will definitely be picking up a few of the colors to add to my never ending supply of polish!

Stylish May Weekend of Fun

I love weekends where it starts off really simple and turns into a great one, this past one was exactly like that! It started off with boyfriend and I going to see The Great Gatsby, which was amazing, and then followed us having an impromptu barbecue on Saturday. I managed to squeeze in some time to play around with my new clipless curler, and had curls for Saturday which I loved. I love weekends that are relaxing and fun, especially after a stressful week. Hope everyone had a stylish weekend!

Stylish Outfit Inspired by The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Dress: Rickety Rack $100
Shoes: Sole Society $50
Hair Band: ASOS $25
Clutch: Nine West $50
Earrings: Cache $19

I am so excited for today's post because today is the opening of a movie I have been waiting for what seems like forever for! The Great Gatsby finally hits theaters today and while I will be seeing it tonight I had to create a look that was totally inspired by the movie! The 1920's was such an incredible era of fashion and elegance is only one word to describe it. I put together an outfit that is very "Daisy" inspired and is a must have! I of course picked items that won't break the bank, so every piece is $100 and under so you can still look stylish for less!
Hope everyone has a stylish weekend!
